SAMSUNG Mobile UK, in partnership with The Carphone Warehouse today launched an interactive window display in the form of a giant interactive SAMSUNG Tocco Ultra Edition, which will appear in 18 Carphone Warehouse store windows across the UK. Four will be installed today at the Oxford Street and High Street Kensington stores, and all will appear by April 8th.

By deploying a touch screen interactive window display in those branches, SAMSUNG and The Carphone Warehouse aim to set a new standard in consumer experience bringing innovative platforms to the market to entertain and educate the consumer.

The interactive online system creates a ‚wow’ factor experience by replicating the new Tocco Ultra Edition on a 46″ LCD screen with an interactive touch screen capability through the store windows. The systems are all networked and running interactive digital content replicating icons and functions of the stunning new phone. The experience is designed to engage and inform the users. The display uses 2 forms of interaction, motion controlled interaction ran with a digital camera and touch detection. The system will constantly look for users in front of the system and then will encourage them to interact via sound and elegant creative.

SAMSUNG Tocco Ultra Edition’s 2.8″ Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) is replicated on a SAMSUNG 46″ HD LCD with full touch screen, the interactive display flaunts astonishingly bright, clear and brilliant colours in the form of stunning digital graphics.

The touch detection technology then adds another dimension to the interactive experience by enabling the consumer to surf and browse through the applications of the new Tocco Ultra Edition, even if The Carphone Warehouse store is closed. The display offers a large screen digital interactive experience with real parallels to the Tocco Ultra Edition. Users are able to drop and drag icons across the display, inviting the user to explore the phone’s features such as music player with music track playback, calendar, weather and more all from the street.

Ltd. today unveiled the innovative solar powered full-touch screen phone „Blue Earth” at Mobile World Congress 2009, alongside SAMSUNG’s vision for environmental sustainability. Under the slogan: „The Blue Earth Dream: Eco-living with SAMSUNG mobile”, SAMSUNG reinforced its commitment to protect the environment through the design of eco-friendly products.

Designed to symbolize a flat and well rounded shiny pebble, Blue Earth is the first solar powered full-touch screen phone. By charging with the solar panel located on the back of the phone, users can generate enough electronic power to call anytime anywhere.

Blue Earth is made from recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles, helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process. The device, including charger, is free from harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate.

The latest in a series of eco-friendly products, Blue Earth comes with a unique user interface which is designed to draw attention to preserving our fragile environment. Simple to set screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth to an energy-efficient mode, this new user interface allows the user to be energy-efficient with just one click of ‚Eco mode’. Through the ‚eco walk’ function the user can count their steps with an in-built pedometer, calculating how much CO2 emissions have been reduced by walking as opposed to motor transport. This unique function allows user to calculate the value of this footprint through the number of trees that have been saved.

The packaging for Blue Earth is designed to be both small and light, made from recycled paper, and comes with a 5 star energy efficient charger which uses standby power lower than 0.03W. As part of the Voluntary Agreement of European Commission IPP (Integrated Product Policy) pilot program, SAMSUNG has agreed to start using rating on energy consumption on the no-load mode of the mobile device charger.

Once again reaffirming technology leadership in the Mobile WiMAX industry

Seoul, Korea, February 12, 2009: SAMSUNG Electronics, a leading provider of telecom systems, announced that its Mobile WiMAX product was one of the first products to receive WiMAX Forum 3.5GHz certification today. About two thirds of WiMAX operators worldwide own 3.5GHz spectrum band, providing or preparing WiMAX service now.

SAMSUNG became the first Mobile WiMAX system provider to possess all three bands of certification from the WiMAX Forum®, including 2.3GHz (Wave1) and 2.5GHz (Wave 2) equipment certifications in 2008.

WiMAX Forum is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization formed to certify and promote the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based upon the harmonized IEEE 802.16/ETSI HiperMAN standard.

SAMSUNG’s certified product is U-RAS Flexible base station, which is a commercial grade Mobile WiMAX Wave 2 system for macro coverage. Its separated design of Radio unit and Digital unit is most suitable for flexible Mobile WiMAX network configuration, and especially 1 Digital unit supports up to 6 Radio units. U-RAS Flexible also guarantees to minimize cable loss with providing optic interface between Digital unit and Radio unit.

SAMSUNG is providing 3.5GHz base stations for Lithuania’s first Mobile WiMAX commercial service by Lithuania Radio & TV centre Inc. in Q1 2009.

Following the successful launch of the Giorgio Armani handset at the beginning of 2008, the NIGHT EFFECT is the latest product of the collaboration between SAMSUNG and one of the world’s leading fashion and lifestyle design names, Giorgio Armani. The Emporio Armani SAMSUNG phone targets young consumers with active and fashionable lifestyles where music is an essential part of everyday life.
